Shawn Miller is one of the Capital Region’s most famed professional boxers. With and undefeated amateur career (23-0), Miller made his professional debut in 2009 when he won via 3rd round knockout.
The Miller family has been in the boxing business for several generations. Miller’s father, Bob Miller, was a boxer until age 21, after which he went on to train other fighters, and promote for several big names in the sport. Shawn’s mother, Lorraine, was Heavyweight Champions Mike Tyson’s first promoter, and promoted about 15 of his first fights. Over the years both Bob and Lorraine have had a hand in the rise of many local fighters, including Bernard Phillips and Lucian Butte.
Shawn Miller is a 2005 graduate of West Virginia University and was one of the school's top pitchers while there. Prior to attending W.V.U., Shawn attended Hudson Valley Community College, where he played football and continues to hold many records as a wide receiver. He was named player of the year in the conference while there.
